Following the successful completion of its 2014-2022 activities, the Climate Cent Foundation still has at its disposal around 60 million Swiss francs. In accordance with its agreement with the Swiss Confederation, renewed in April 2022, until the end of 2030 these funds are to be invested in projects in the field of negative emissions technologies carried out in Switzerland or abroad. As before, the Foundation will hand over all resulting certificates to the Swiss Confederation at no charge.

Over the period 2008 to 2012, the Foundation funded the reduction of 16 million tonnes of CO₂ abroad and 2 million tonnes of CO₂ in Switzerland. Over the period 2013 to 2020, it funded the reduction of a further more than 20 million tonnes of CO₂ abroad. The Climate Cent Foundation was funded by a charge of 1.5 cent per litre levied on petrol and diesel imports between October 2005 and August 2012.
