Waste heat recovery in Loidapada in India
Project
Waste heat resulting from the manufacture of metallic products is captured and used to generate electricity. The electricity supplies the factory itself, and excess electricity is fed into the grid of North Eastern Electricity Supply Company of Orissa Limited (NESCO).
Project owner
Sree Metaliks Ltd. manufactures various metallic products such as steel bars and sponge iron.
Initial situation
Waste heat resulting from the manufacture of metallic products dissipated unused. The factory procured its electricity from fossil energy.
Due to Klimarappen
This project stems from the Asia Pacific Carbon Fund (APCF), in which the Foundation holds a stake of 25 million US$.
Savings
Overall, the APCF has secured 406’648 CERs by contract for the period 2008 to 2012. The Foundation will receive 16% of these.
