The Foundation seeks projects in the fields of motor fuels, space heating, industrial process heat and waste heat recovery, which markedly reduce CO2 emissions.
General information
Within the framework of the Project Funding Programme, the Foundation supported projects in the fields of motor fuels, space heating, industrial process heat and waste heat recovery that markedly reduce CO2 emissions. Such project submissions were examined by experts and, if they met requirements, granted admission to the selection process. For projects that were approved by the Foundation’s bodies, a contract was drawn up with the Foundation setting out the conditions governing the remuneration of emissions reductions.
Status Auction Programme
In the Auction Programme, projects complying with requirements were ranked according to cost-efficiency (reduction price per tonne of CO2) and accepted as long as the funds available for each auction round lasted. Over a total of ten auction rounds, the Foundation acquired 393’000 tonnes of CO2 stemming from 84 projects at an average price of 108 Swiss Francs per tonne. By October 2010, a contract had been signed with 69 of them, covering a total of 322'000 tonnes of CO2 reductions over the period 2008 to 2012. 24'000 tonnes have already been delivered.
Status Large-Scale Projects Programme
The Climate Cent Foundation has approved a total of 12 large-scale projects. Submissions had to display minimal emissions reductions of 10'000 tonnes of CO2 over the period 2008 to 2012. A total of around 377'000 tonnes of CO2 reductions have been secured by contract over the period 2008 to 2012. Of these, 89'000 tonnes have already been delivered.
Status Intermediaries Programme
Within the framework of the Intermediaries Programme, which was in place from 1 July 2006 to 30 June 2007, 86 projects have been approved. Over the period 2008 to 2012, the projects are expected to reduce 318'000 tonnes of CO2 emissions at an average price of 97 Swiss Francs per tonne of CO2. By October 2010, contracts were in place with 63 projects, covering a total of 285'000 tonnes of CO2 reductions over the period 2008 to 2012. 53'000 tonnes have already been delivered.
