General information
A climate protection fund is a procurement scheme for the acquisition of certificates generated by JI/CDM projects. The procurement of certificates is handled by the fund operator, who concludes direct purchase agreements with the owners of climate protection projects. The resulting certificates are distributed to participating countries, organisations or companies according to their respective investment share. The main focus lies on projects in the fields of energy efficiency, renewable energies and waste management. Next to the Climate Cent Foundation, APCF participants include the governments of Finland, Spain, Sweden, Portugal, the Belgian region of Flanders and Luxemburg.
